The professional meetings of Dak’Art 2008 started this saturday 10th of may and will carry on until the 13th of may to the Musée Théodore Monod.

The awards has been offered during the opening ceremony of the Biennale friday the 9th of may at Musée Théodore Monod in Dakar, honored by the presence of the President of the Republic and the Ministry of Culture and Historical Heritage of Senegal.
The opening of the village for professionnals of the Biennale, Kër Dak’art, will take place May 9th, in the gardens of the african art Museum T. Monod, former IFAN. This Village remains opened 9 till 18 of may 2008, from 10 h till 20h.

As usual to the eve of a new edition, a press conference is organized to present the 8th edition of Dak’art, on thursday, the 17th of april 2008 at 9h30 AM at the Biennale office, 19 Avenue Hassan II, 1st floor, Dakar Plateau.
This conference will be presented by :
Ousseynou Wade, general secretary of the Biennale of Dakar,
Gérard Senac, president of the orientation committee,
Maguèye Kassé, general curator,
Gilles Hervio, ambassador, head of the
Delegation of the European Commission.

The official selection of 36 artists that are exhibiting at the 8th Biennale of African Contemporary Art was organized by the Selection Committee based on the application files directly received by the General Secretary of the Biennale.
The Official exhibition of Dak’Art 2008 presents artists of 17 african countries and from the diaspora.
Senegal (10), Cameroon (5), South Africa (5) and Egypt (3) are the most represented countries in the 2008 selection .
The designers selected for Dak’Art 2008 are 12 from 10 african countries :
Applications are opened for Dak’Art 2008. Application documents must reach the General Secretariat of the Biennale as soon as possible and lately 31st of december 2007.
Candidates must download below the application form, the general regulation and also the technical form.
The technical form is available in 2 files: .doc and .rtf. Once downloaded, it must be filled in in your text treatment software.
The works submitted to selection must not have been shown yet into an international exhibition.
Dak’Art 2008, 8th edition of the Biennale of Contemporary African Art will take place in Dakar from May 9th until June 9th.
